new city/wanderlust.

Living and learning in a new city
that isn’t really new at all
but feels new to call mine.
Walking down streets,
finding a new way home each time
in an attempt to help my body memorize
shapes and borders.

The shape of home.

Reading signs with new eyes
going into small stores and shops
finding new places
that I know will become
my new secret spots.
Ones I’ll be torn between sharing
with the rest of the world
and keeping just that
– secret.
Ones I’ll look back on with smiling eyes
when I one day find myself
somewhere else.

Sometimes it doesn’t take much
to quench the wanderlust.
