Oil And Water. (lyrics)

I know that sound
The men in white coats
Have come to watch me while I sleep
They seem to know
What most of it means
still they’re trying to find out
If chemistry can be explained

With numbers
So into equations we go
And then we’re blended up
Solutions created to show

if all love is chemical
If we really can’t help but fall for
What is bound to break our hearts
Or if humans just seek out torture
they hope to bring forth a cure
For the immiscible ones
Made up of oil and water

don’t be alarmed
They say as I feel it sting
It only hurts if you let it in
I try to stay awake
But these lids are heavy
As soon as they close I can
see you there waiting for me to

Come to you
So back into old ways we go
And we still bleed the same in the name of
science for them to be sure

if all love is chemical
If we really can’t help but fall for
What is bound to break our hearts
Or if humans just seek out torture
Yeah they hope to bring forth a cure
For the immiscible ones
Made up of oil and water

Oh baby we’re oil and water
Some things don’t mix, that’s how it is
Could somebody find me the author?
I think he needs to know
That he tried to put oil and water together
And these two can’t get along

These are the lyrics to a song I wrote the other day. I’m pretty much writing songs full time at the moment, so I tend to get several new ones a week. I’m thinking it would be fun to start sharing the lyrics on here, and maybe even go into a bit of what they mean? I always love listening to/reading about what’s behind the lyrics of other artists’ songs and I too tend to have a lot of thought behind the words, stories and concepts, so I think it would be fun to dive deeper into it!
