I need water. [song in progress]

Most of you probably don’t know (totally my fault, the not knowing- I haven’t been very good at sharing actual details about my life on here) that I’m a singer- songwriter. I’m currently going to school for music production, my every day is filled to the brim with sounds and notes and words, and most of the creating I do tends to comes out in song form. The blog is kind of a secondary outlet for all the writing that doesn’t directly translate into music.

That said, I figured; why not start sharing the progress of lyrics and songs on here? Maybe talk a little about what they’re about, how they came to be and maybe even share some recordings and productions.

I’m on Christmas break now and suddenly have all the time in the world to create whatever and however much I want, so I have a feeling I’ll have quite a few finished tunes after these 3 weeks.

I don’t know about you, but I think letting you in on it sounds like a lot of fun!

This first one I’m going to share with you I wrote a month ago or so, when I was feeling pretty stressed and overwhelmed. It’s about the need to let it all out, and the release that follows when you do. It’s about welcoming all the emotions, and how, in some backwards way, pouring them out feels like getting filled back up again.

I’ll share a demo of it later, but for now you’ll have to do with the lyrics.

I need water

I might have overstepped my boundaries again
Asking more of this weary ground than it’s able to give
Cause I’m tired
And the water keeps on rising
In my head
Let’s lay down for the spilling over

Someone get me a cup
And I’ll drink it in
Sweet like summer rain falling
always been a friend
Oh what a savior
The river of life that flows
It carries me home
Where I’ll bury my toes deep in soul and find revival again
Revive me my friend

And I was never good at knowing
When to let go
Always running ’til all of my shoes have lost their soles
And now I’m tired
But still bringing out the glue
Cause I’m a fixer upper savior
God forbid I buy something new

Someone get me a cup
And I’ll drink it in
Sweet like summer rain falling
always been a friend
Oh what a savior
The river of life that flows
It carries me home
Where I’ll bury my toes deep in soul

Cause I need water
In need of something to fill me up/fill my cup
I need water
I’m all shrivels and flowing dust
So I need
Yeah I need water

//Hanna

I would love to hear your song. I like the lyrics. I specialize in bloody awful parodies and original songs, mostly humorous. I have some serious music that I have not published on my blog. But I really love listening to new, original music by people who are truly talented singers/musicians.
