“I’ve made up my mind.
Until the darkness disappears and
the dawn has fully come,
in spite of shadows and fears,
I will go to the mountaintop with you-
the mountain of suffering love
and the hill of burning incense.
Yes, I will be your bride.”
Song of Songs 4:6 (TPT)
As I read this I could feel my heart joining in, so I took the freedom to write my own paraphrase.
As a prayer. Take it as your own if you’d like.
I’ve made up my mind.
Until the light has fully come
and all wrong has been made right,
in spite of my shadows and doubts and fears,
I will go with you -as part of you- to take part of your suffering as you took mine and give myself as a living sacrifice
as you gave yourself for me.
I have counted the cost and now I’m sure
– no matter what pain and hardship will come our way- your extravagant love far outweighs them all.
I have made up my mind.
I will be yours as you are fully mine
-yes, I will be your bride.
